OWP – SAVE OUR OCEANS

Our coral reefs & ecosystems are rapidly dying

Our oceans are facing threats from all sides as tons of plastics are entering our oceans every day. It is not only marine species that are affected, but also our valuable coral reefs.

MORE THAN

25%

of all marine species use coral reefs as their home

APPROXIMATELY

50%

of the world’s coral reefs are already dead

THERE IS A

89%

risk for corals to get a disease when it comes into contact with plastic

Even though our coral reefs only cover less than 1% of the oceans, they are home to more than 25% of all marine species. The coral reefs are vital to maintaining the health and stability of our ecosystem.

A study shows that plastic trapped in coral reefs is having a serious impact on coral health and possibly killing corals. If plastic gets in contact with corals it increases the likelihood of diseases from 4 % to 89%. Half of the world’s coral reefs are already dead and all of them could be gone by 2050.

PLASTIC POLLUTION IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY OUR CORAL REEFS ARE DYING, AS ALL THE PLASTIC LITTERING OUR OCEANS PREVENT/BLOCK THE CORALS FROM SUNLIGHT AND OXYGEN WHICH ARE VITAL FOR THEM TO SURVIVE.

But you can do something about it!

By choosing to produce your packaging in OWP (Ocean Waste Plastic) you help us clean the oceans – and at the same time you prevent new plastic from entering the world.

Help us give our oceans and the coral reefs their life back.
