One indirect benefit of replacing virgin resins with Ocean Waste Plastic is major reduction in CO2 emission.

 

 Resources consumed to produce 0.45 kilo (1 pound) of OWP:

 

Producing 1,000 grams of OWP reduces C02 emission by >50% compared to 

producing 1,000 grams of virgin resin.

Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator

Employment

Recycling plastic also creates 6 times more jobs than landfilling recyclables and 36 times more jobs than incinerating them

Production of recycled resin uses 85% less energy & emits 75% fewer greenhouse gases than the production of virgin resin
